Chris Dagnall had a hand in all four goals as Leyton Orient claimed their first home league victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Crewe Alexandra.

The 28-year-old striker crossed for Gianvito Plasmati to head the O's in front before making the score 2-0 with a sublime volley on the 35th minute. Dagnall then saw his shot parried midway through the second half straight into the path of Dean Cox who tucked the ball home. Anthony Grant pulled one back for the visitors but Dagnall then set up David Mooney to seal the win with four minutes remaining.

Mauro Milanese handed Andrea Dossena his home debut whilst Jay Simpson missed out through injury meaning Gianvito Plasmati and Chris Dagnall started up top.

The pair looked lively early on and on the 23rd minute they combined well as Dagnall's cross from the left was met by the head of Plasmati to open the scoring.

Dagnall was terrorising the Crewe defence with his tireless work rate and grabbed a deserved goal 10 minutes before half time as he volleyed Josh Wright's cross beyond the reach of Ben Garratt in the Crewe goal.

Taking the comfortable lead in to the break, Orient started the second half in the same fashion and extended their lead just after the hour when Romain Vincelot released Dagnall through the middle. The striker was unable to beat Garratt with his shot but the rebound fell straight into the path of Dean Cox who raced in to poke the ball home.

Crewe had offered little threat going forward but pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left to go when Anthony Grant rifled a right footed effort past Adam Legzdins and in the top corner from the edge of the box.

Despite Crewe pulling a goal back Orient stood firm for a brief onslaught and sealed the win when they hit the visitors on the counter and Dagnall set up David Mooney for the simplest of finishes to fire past Garratt from inside the box.

The win finally ends the O's home hoodoo and moves Orient out of the relegation zone up to 19th.
