Lacklustre O`s Punished By Crawley

A terrific strike from Billy Clarke was the difference as Crawley went back to West Sussex with maximum points. Clarke`s turn on the right hand edge of the penalty area left him with an opportunity to shoot which he sublimely curled with his left foot passed Jamie Jones.

The result sees Crawley jump above Orient in the table and surely wrecks any faint hopes of a late charge for the play-offs.

Orient always looked unlikely to get back into the contest after Clarke`s 11th minute strike, despite dominating large parts of the second half without any real attacking penetration.

Mike Jones could have piled more misery for the home team midway in the first half but his looping header hit the crossbar after good work from former O man Nicky Adams.

The O`s despite creating little of note did create some half chances, the first coming in the opening period when Charlie MacDonald`s first time volley had to be palmed away by Paul Jones. In a tame first half Orient couldn't find any more opportunities to open up Crawley.

Into the second period the O`s had more control, spending large periods of time pushing towards the Crawley area but the hosts were still lacking any real danger to the visitors defence.

However Orient did create some half chances close to the end. A corner had to be hacked away close to the goal line and Dean Cox had a free kick on the stroke of full time miss the far post by inches.

All in all it has been a week to forget for the Orient, with only survival in League 1 left to play for.
