Orient - 8 games and still no win

Last night was a further dent in the car crash that is Leyton Orient's 2011/12 season. We entertained a Bournemouth side who were hammered at the weekend by a newly promoted side, humiliated by their chairman getting all Danny Dyer and offering fans out and hadn't won a game for five. The perfect time to get our first win of the season on the board after an encouraging performance and point at Colchester. However, the events of last night was simply embarrassing.

The game was pretty dull and lifeless until the 20th minute when the game sparked into life, mainly through the referee and a spectacular dive. The lively Wes Thomas, someone linked with the Orient during the summer, won his side a penalty from a theatric fall. Thomas had got himself between Terrell Forbes and Ben Chorley and took a tumble that Cristiano Ronaldo would be proud of, the whistle blower somehow saw a foul and Harry Arter stepped up confidently to put Bournemouth 1-0 up.

Justice was served just three minutes later when Dean Cox levelled for the Orient. The two sides went in level at the break and the next big talking point was the sending off of Scott Cuthbert. The Scot made a rash challenge on Arter and the referee didn't hesitate in showing Cuthbert the red card.

Another talking point was the referee's decisions not to send off ex-Orient player Shaun Cooper, who made, frankly, a disgusting challenge on Dean Cox. Pacy Cox had knocked the ball past Cooper and Cooper intentionally swung a leg at the shins of Cox and recieved a yellow card for what some think was a red for serious foul play. Cooper was the source of Bournemouth's second goal as his shot smashed the crossbar and fell to Thomas who slotted into the empty net. Orient's response was to throw on a 19 year old and put all our hopes in him, Porter entered the field of play for the ever useless Matt Spring.

Bournemouth's Marc Pugh, who tore us apart on the left, scored Bournemouth's third in the last minute to condemn us to yet another defeat.

Bournemouth weren't the best team we've faced but had four players who caused us problems all night. Marc Pugh and the on loan Scott Malone tested us at every opportunity on Bournemouth's left and down the frail Orient right side, Nathan Byrne, on loan from Spurs, was pacy and hard working down the Cherries right and the diving Wes Thomas caused us problems. His movement was exceptional and caused us problems all night.

A hard task in previous weeks but last night it was a two way battle between Terrell Forbes and Kevin Lisbie. Forbes, arguably our best defender, timed his tackles perfectly so he was left unpunished by the idiotic referee and Lisbie looked lively and was doing absolutely everything.
Looks a very good keeper. Collected a number of crosses and shots comfortably and commanded his box well. I'd like to see him stay. Looked uncomfortable and was battered at right back and made a challenge out of frustration that probably looked worse then it really was. Whatever he did, he seemed to have Stephen Purches pretty close to him to stop him from being his best. Looks very, very poor this season. Slow, mistimed and out of position a lot. His shouting and ranting in the referee's face needs to stop too. Covered for Chorley's inability and made a brilliantly timed tackle that unfortunately fell to a Bournemouth player for their 3rd. I am yet to see this man in an Orient shirt this season, he's been that anonymous. Anonymous. Obviously needs match fitness, hope to see him improve. The scapegoat at the start of the season, he's not improved at all. I'd love to know what Russell Slade saw in him. If David Mooney was the answer what was the question? Obviously still not 100% match fit, he still looked far better than both sides on the pitch. Goal aside, he's been pretty poor this season. Came on late, didn't do too much, had to attempt to handle Pugh and Malone. The fans were calling for him to start, the hopes of 2,000 or so Orient fans was on the shoulders of a 19 year old. Says it all really.
