Frustrating stalemate for Orient

Leyton Orient drew 0-0 with Walsall on Tuesday evening in a frustrating match at Brisbane Road.

The O's looked the better team but lacked any creativity or guile upfront whilst Walsall's lack of confidence after six straight defeats was evident as they struggled to have any effect on the game.

Goal-scoring chances for both sides were few and far between. Walsall had the best chance of the first-half when Oliver Lancashire's shot was saved by Jamie Jones whilst Alex Revell came close for the home side in the second-half with a well-saved header.

O's midfielder Adam Chambers came closest to finding the net when his deflected shot hit off the post. But neither team could make a breakthrough and the game ended in a disappointing goalless draw.

Orient once again faced the same problems that have plagued them all season, as a lack of impetus and ideas in attack cost them points in a game the O's should have won.

Star Player

O's midfielder Adam Chambers worked hard for the 66 minutes he was on the pitch. Chambers came close to finding the net but was denied by the post and the hardworking midfielder put in a positive performance on a disappointing night for the O's.

O's keeper Jamie Jones told leytonorient.com:

'When you don't score a goal at home it's always disappointing, but we'll look at it all on Thursday and take it from there.'

It was a very frustrating game. Orient had most of the pocession but didn't create enough chances. Too often we played the ball across the pitch without finding the incisive pass. The lack of width was again evident. Cox who was right footed but played on the left always cut in, and Chambers is not a natural wide player. When we introduced width with M'Poku I think we took off the wrong player. Spring rather than Chambers should have been substituted. It is not as if we are playing badly at the moment we just don't create enough chances and as a result don't win the games we should do.

I agree that we are playing ok in games but still not winning or getting anything at all. one part of the problem which is defending has hopefully been improved with the two clean sheets in a row but going forward we still lack the end product which is surprising at times as we have good players in the midfield like Spring, Dawson and Cox...
