Striker needed at Brisbane Road

With Gary Alexander gone there is a massive whole in the Orient front-line and with no recognised goalscorer at the club, you the readers feel this is the area that needs most improvement.

Not since the days of Carl Griffiths have we been assured of 15 goals a season. If Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling can find a consistent goalscorer, The O's will make a mark on league one this season, as the foundations are definitely there.

In Jabo Ibehre Orient have a player who one week walks around defenders for fun and the next has trouble passing the ball five yards. It is a problem for Jabo and he personally has to be more consistent if he is to fulfill his potential. Ibehre has been around six years and in that time despite his natural talent has only scored on twenty eight occasions, this is not good enough and if he doesn't start the season well he could leave the club.

Efe Echanomi is another who has a massive season ahead. With a new contract in hand Echanomi has the pace to frighten any defence. The 20-year-old Nigerian brightens up games and adds a different dimension to the Orient attack. Efe needs goals. With goals comes confidence and a good start for the young striker could see him having an excellent season.

One player who would have been an excellent acquisition is James Hayter. Hayter scores goals for fun, and his ability to play wide of the right would of been very useful for Ling. Unfortuneately The O's missed the boat and Hayter moved to sunny Doncaster last week for a fairly low and affordable £200,000.

Grant Holt is another who could do well in E10. Holt is a proven goalscorer who while at Rochdale and Forest knocked them in for fun. He led the scoring charts for Forest last season, scoring seventeen times. Holt is unsettled after the club ruled out offering him an improved contract and has recently had a transfer request rejected. Orient would no doubt have to pay around £300,000 to prize him away from the City Ground, with Carlisle and even championship side Preston interested, Orient will have to act fast.

Let me know if you agree with what I have said, if you have any other ideas for striker also leave a message on the site.
