Crawley Considering Cox Bid

Crawley Considering Cox Bid

League One rivals Crawley Town are believed to be considering a bid for Orient winger Dean Cox.

According to Sussex newspaper The Argus, The Reds have already had one offer rejected by Orient for Cox and are contemplating whether to make a second bid.

A Championship side is also said to be looking at Cox but an offer of any type from Crawley is likely to have been made, especially after Leyton Orient Chairman Barry Hearn revealed on Twitter that the club have received offers for the former Brighton man, but 'none that are acceptable'.

Cox is the longest serving player at Orient following the departure of Jamie Jones earlier on this summer, and after Moses Odubajo signed for Brentford last week, Orient cannot afford to lose another influential part of the team.

Since arriving from Brighton in 2010, Cox has made 210 appearances for Orient and scored 46 goals.

The 26 year-old has also assisted a huge number of goals throughout his four years at the club, becoming a fan favourite along the way.

Crawley manager John Gregory is believed to have a decent transfer kitty this summer following the sales of Kyle McFadzean and Andy Drury, but whether they have enough to submit an acceptable bid for Cox remains a doubt.

Despite having only a year left on his contract, Orient cannot afford to let a player of Cox's importance go to a League One rival if they are to mount another push for promotion next year, and anyway, would Cox go?
