Russell Slade - Four Years An O

'He's got no hair but we don't care, Russell, Russell Slade'

On Saturday, it will be four years to the day that Russell Slade took charge of Leyton Orient, when the club was lingering one point above the relegation zone with six matches remaining.

Slade took charge of his first match away at Exeter which ended in a 0-0 draw before defeating league leaders Norwich City 2-1 in his first match at Brisbane Road.

Further wins against Stockport and Wycombe secured the O's League One safety by a point and Slade was rewarded with a two-year contract.

Orient's fortunes turned around the following season as the club missed out on a Play-Off spot by one point finished in 7th, as well as embarking on a fantastic FA Cup run which saw the O's force Premiership side Arsenal in to a fifth-round replay at the Emirates.

At the end of 2011 Slade signed a new contract with Orient which contracted him to the club until the end of the 2013/14 season, but was unable to repeat any of the success from the previous success as Leyton Orient finished 20th in League One.

A second 7th place finish was to come for Slade's Orient as the East Londoner's finished three points off of the Play-Offs in 2012/13.

Ahead of the 2013/14 season, Slade extended his contract until the summer of 2016.

This season however, has by far been the most successful for Russell Slade as manager of Leyton Orient.

The club set a record for their best-ever start to a season winning eight consecutive matches and currently sit third in League One on 76 points with six matches remaining and an outside chance of automatic promotion.

Russell Slade is currently the fourth longest-serving manager in England, behind Arsene Wenger (Arsenal), Paul Tisdale (Exeter City) and Mark Yates (Cheltenham Town).

Russell Slade record as Leyton Orient manager:
Matches: 221
Won: 95
Drawn: 73
Lost: 53
