Speaking after his impressive goal scoring performance against Carlisle in the 4-1 victory on Saturday, Dean Cox backed referee Simon Hooper`s decision to send off Carlisle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie.
Gillespie was sent off for two bookable offences, with one committed in both halves, the first of which was when the stopper appeared to pick up the ball just outside of his penalty area.
And the Orient winger believed the referee made the correct decision.
"I think maybe a yellow (card) was a sensible one (decision), I think that was a good call from the referee. "
The former Brighton man also felt Hooper made the right judgment when it came to awarding Orient`s penalty in the second half which led to Gillespie getting his marching orders.
"With the actual penalty we (Orient) got, it was a definite penalty and he (Hooper) done well."
With Cox in the team, the O`s are now on a five match unbeaten run after the disappointing week in mid February which led to the exit out of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy and the 25 year old insisted that the pain of exiting one match away from Wembley has inspired the O`s to turn that form around.
"I think that may have spurred us on to be honest. We`re using that disappointment to try and sort out our league form, and in the last four or five (games) we`ve been playing really well."
Dean and the rest of the squad will hope to keep up their good form against Preston this weekend.
