Ling Takes Extended Break

Former Orient midfielder and manager Martin Ling is set to be absent from his current duties for an indefinite period from his role as head coach at League 2 Torquay United after being diagnosed with a "debilitating illness" according to their Official Website.

Ling is fondly remembered in E10 for his lengthy spell at the club, in which he took up the roles of youth coach, assistant manager and eventually manager, where he guided the O`s to their first automatic promotion in over 20 years.

His current number two, Shaun Taylor will take the helm in the interim as the Gulls look for an experienced coach to help Taylor manage the Torquay squad which includes ex O`s striker Ryan Jarvis.

OrientVital wishes Martin a speedy recovery.
