LOFC - Three shown the door at Orient

Tom Lovelock, Mike Cestor and Jamie Smith have all been made aware that they will not be offered new contracts at Brisbane Road after their current deals come to an end.

Lovelock and Cestor both rose through the ranks at Brisbane Road and were offered professional contracts at the club after impressing in the Orient youth teams.

Lovelock, born in Harlow, failed to make a first team appearance at the club but was an unused substitute a handful of times during a trying season for goalkeeper's at the club.

Cestor made four appearances for Orient, with his first coming at Swindon Town in a Carling Cup tie in August 2010. Cestor had loan spells at Boreham Wood and Woking during the 2011/12 season, helping Woking to the Blue Square South title in the process.

Smith, managed by Russell Slade at Brighton & Hove Albion, signed on deadline day in March 2012 and was signed on a contract that was described as 'a development contract' by Russell Slade. After being dogged by injuries at Brighton, Smith added little contribution at Orient and made just one appearance, coming off the bench in a 3-0 drubbing at Exeter City.

The signing of Smith begs the question, what was Russell Slade playing at? Signing Smith and using him once was a clear waste of wages at a time when we were crying out for a striker to put the ball in the back o the net.

Decisions are yet to be made on the rest of the clubs out-of-contract players.

Meanwhile, Billy Lobjoit has put pen to paper on an initial one year professional contract at the club.
