Demetriou to miss Southend clash

Leyton Orient have received an early blow for their impending derby match with Southend United, as young midfielder Jason Demetriou will miss out due to International duties.

The match, due to take place at Roots Hall on Friday 4th September, clashes with Cyprus' World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland which is scheduled for the following day. Cyrpus will also play Moldova on the following Wednesday.

Demetriou is yet to make his competitive Cyprus debut, but has gained three caps in friendly matches. Whilst he has failed to shine in the O's first five games - a decent performance in the League Cup aside - he has been utilised in every position across the midfield, and his versatility will be sorely missed.

Jason has been the subject of much speculation over the course of the summer, and these international call-ups can only enhance his reputation further. Vital Orient would like to wish Jason all the best in his pursuit of that first competitive cap.
